Hair Color Genes From Mom Or Dad
Eyes with more melanin are green.
Hair color genes from mom or dad. Hair color like eye color has both recessive and dominant genes so I believe that at least some of the qualities of hair can be inherited from your father. Therefore even if you end up with your mothers straight brown hair you also have genetic information. Currently it is thought that eye color is determined by about six genes so you can imagine how inheritance of eye color becomes very complicated.
The chances of having a blue-eyed child are not zero but it can happen only if one of the parents has a gene responsible for the blue color. Therefore you cant have inherited every gray hair from the mother or father. One of the most enduring is that a man inherits the baldness gene from his mother.
Both parents pass copies of their OCA2. Two genes OCA2 and HERC2 affect the production of melanin and therefore determine a babys eye color. The primary baldness gene is on the X or female chromosome which men do inherit from their mothers.
Each gene is made up of alleles also called DNA sequences. Brown eye color is a dominant gene. These people have black or brown hair due to the large amount of eumelanin present in the hair.
You can think of them as 23 pairs because both parents pass along alleles for every trait. There are some characteristics of various plants or animals that are determined by two simple genes. Each trait consists of two alleles one from your Mother and one from your Father they may be the same or they may be different.
However the truth is that the genes for hair loss and hair loss itself are actually passed down from both sides of the family. Though your moms or dads genes may put you at risk for these diseases you may also need to be exposed to certain factors in your environment. So if one of the parents especially the father has dark eyes and the other has blue or green eyes the child is more likely to have brown eyes.
